Sharing My Thoughts...

Home Run Billy

Dec 30, 2011

Billy Hunter and I were classmates at Dana Ave. Elementary School.  He wasn't the smallest kid in 4th grade, but he was close to it.  Maybe because he was small in size, he was very big in tenaciousness.  He would never give up.

I remember one recess. All the boys gathered at the baseball diamond to choose up sides.  Billy usually was the last one picked and of course, the last one to have a chance to hit.

Back in 4th grade, time went by slowly, except for recess.  Often Billy didn't even get up to bat, but when he finally stepped up to the plate he brought all he had, b

La Jolla Weddings

Oct 10, 2011

Seems like I'm spending lots of time in La Jolla recently.  I was at the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art and that is an awesome spot to foxtrot afer a ceremony on the patio overlooking the Pacific, right near Covier Park and the legendary Wedding Bowl.

My couple met on line and discovered that they lived less than six blocks apart.  That's pretty amazing when you consider we are talking about the grand city of San Francisco.  Their first meeting up close and personal only required mutual strolls of 8 to 10 minutes each.  From there they strolled the lanes, together, wind

How many weddings in one day?

Being the Celebrant at weddings is a good thing!  I truly love being part of the wedding day.  I take pride in knowing that every wedding I have ever done, whether my smallest-just the husband and wife, or my largest-850-one time out at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, is done with care and my full attention.  I write each ceremony personally and uniquely for that couple.

That begs the question.  How much of such a good thing, is too much?  Well, over time I have learned that one ceremony per day is enough.  Sometimes two, if they are at least

Wedding at Sycuan

Oct 5, 2011

I had a wonderful wedding recently at the spectacularly charming gazebo at Sycuan Indian Gaming and Resort.  A couple things caught my attention.  First, the couple, had met on one of the "on-line" dating services.  At our first meeting, I, of course, wanted to know how they had come to know each other.  When they told me it was through E-Harmony.com, I asked if I might mention that to their gathering.  They both said "It was no secret" and I could feel free to share that.

When I did tell how they had met, I thought I sensed a slight uneasiness among the family and frie
